Each voice architecture draws from a different lineage of electronic instrument design

Complex
Inspired by DPO, Buchla 259, Brenso
Inspired by complex-oscillator designs such as the Make Noise DPO, Buchla 259, and Frap Tools Brenso. Dual oscillator with continuous waveshape morphing, through-zero FM, AM, ring modulation, hard sync, per-oscillator wavefolding, and phase distortion.
FM TZFM AM RING SYNC MORPH FOLD ANGLE
Harmonic
Inspired by Verbos, Kawai K5, Buchla 296
Inspired by instruments such as the Verbos Harmonic Oscillator, Kawai K5, and Buchla 296. Eight harmonics with Gaussian scanning, per-harmonic waveform morphing, FM on the fundamental, spectral tilt, odd/even balance, and phase spread.
SCAN MORPH FM TILT ODD/EVEN SPREAD INHARM
Timbral
Inspired by Serge NTO, Random*Source, CGS48
Inspired by the Serge New Timbral Oscillator, later Random*Source implementations, and CGS48-style approaches. Triangle core through a wave-multiplier-inspired shaper with linear FM, sub-oscillator, self-modulation feedback, and expanded symmetry.
TIMBRE SYMMETRY MULTIPLY LIN FM SUB FEEDBACK
Granular
Lineage: Xenakis, Curtis Roads, microsound
Generates pitched clouds of micro-oscillator grains with morphable waveforms. Each grain is synthesized from scratch using the same sine-to-square morph as Complex. Density, scatter, drift, and FM within grains produce textures from shimmering pads to atmospheric noise.

A line you cross

One USB-C cable connects Brume to your DAW as a class-compliant multi-channel audio and MIDI instrument.

Arm a track, route MIDI out to Brume, record the audio back — all over a single cable. Brume appears as a native USB device on macOS, Windows, and Linux. No proprietary driver, no manager app required.
